On 25–26 October 2025, Worcestershire Martial Arts coaches Ms Sally Gleaves and Mr Adam Monks travelled to Monor, Hungary, to compete at the XII. Mightyfist Open Eagles Cup – a prestigious international event attracting athletes from across Europe.
The competition followed a league format, meaning each competitor faced every other athlete in their division. This format tested not only technical ability and endurance but also consistency and adaptability across multiple bouts.
Both Ms Gleaves and Mr Monks rose to the challenge, displaying focus, tactical control, and strong performances throughout their categories. After several competitive matches, they each secured silver medals in the 3-6th Dan Pattern categories, marking another excellent result on the international stage for the club.
Reflecting on the event, Ms Gleaves commented on the high standard of competition and the value of these international experiences for both athletes and coaches:
“The league system pushes you to perform at your best in every round. It’s a great test of focus and resilience. We’re both proud to bring home silver medals for WMA.”
The team would like to thank the organisers, officials, and fellow competitors for an excellent event and for fostering a supportive, professional atmosphere.
With the international season continuing into winter, Worcestershire Martial Arts remains committed to preparing its athletes for success both nationally and abroad — building on the discipline, respect, and excellence that define ITF Taekwon-Do.
