Ms. Sally Gleaves, an experienced martial artist, found her way to Taekwon-Do after enduring a challenging experience with bullying during her school days. What initially began as a solution to combat bullying and boost her confidence evolved into a lifelong passion and commitment.

With an impressive 27 years of experience in Taekwon-Do and a proficiency in diverse martial arts such as Karate, Kickboxing, MMA, and Aikido, Sally achieved her adult 1st Dan Black Belt in 2003 under Master Hopwood 8th Dan. Subsequently, she continued her journey by attaining her 2nd and 3rd Dans in 2004 and 2006, progressing to an ITF 4th Dan in 2012 under Master Wolf 8th Dan, and ultimately reaching a 5th Dan in 2018.

As a member of the International Taekwon-Do Federation England National Team, Sally has proudly represented England in national and international competitions, earning medals in patterns, sparring, and destruction. Notable accolades include being named GTI Competitor of the Year for patterns in 2008 and 2011/2012, as well as securing five World Championship medals. Beyond her accomplishments in Taekwon-Do, Sally was previously part of the World Karate and Kickboxing Union England team in 2013.

Post her 1st Dan Black Belt, Sally discovered her calling in Taekwon-Do instruction and embarked on a journey to become a qualified teacher. In 2012, she pursued and completed her Postgraduate Certificate in Education (Further Education), specialising in teaching Taekwon-Do. This achievement marked a significant milestone as Sally expanded her expertise, combining her passion for martial arts with a formal education in teaching. She worked in the education sector until 2022.

Sally's commitment to education and fostering an inclusive environment in Taekwon-Do is further demonstrated by her role as a valuable member of the AETF Women's Committee. She actively contributes to the committee's mission and promotes women's equality, safety, participation and excellence in Taekwon-Do. This dual commitment, both as an instructor and an advocate for women in martial arts, showcases Sally's dedication to the holistic development and advancement of the Taekwon-Do community.

Sally is not only a martial artist but also a leader in safeguarding and awareness. She delivers keynote presentations to national associations and members of the ITF, raising awareness of sexual grooming and safeguarding. Her commitment to creating a safe and informed community is evident in her advocacy and educational efforts.

Sally plays a pivotal role as the leader of Coach Development for ITF England, working alongside the ITF Coaches Committee. Sally conducts coach development workshops and courses nationally and internationally. She currently stands as the sole provider of Level 2 coaching qualifications for ITF Taekwon-Do in England via the awarding body 1st4sport, showcasing her commitment to enhancing coaching standards and nurturing the growth of emerging martial arts instructors.
