What is Kickboxing?
Kickboxing is a group of martial arts and stand-up combat sports based on kicking and punching, historically developed from Karate, Muay Thai and Western boxing. Kickboxing is practiced for self-defence, general fitness, or as a contact sport. Kickboxing has roots in very traditional Japanese Martial Arts as well as Western Boxing.
What are our lessons like?
Our Kickboxing lessons are designed to get you fit as quick as possible! Suitable for beginners, our energetic and intense workouts keep you on your toes and gasping for breath. A mix of cardio, strength and balance training works all your muscles. We use these fitness and endurance classes to prepare you for stepping into the ring if that is what you wish to do!
Kickboxing is very energetic, with the vast majority of the lessons centered around punching and kicking techniques delivered to martial arts equipment and opponents. These techniques include the simple punching such as Jab, Cross, Hook and Uppercut, simple kicking techniques such as side kick, front kick and turning kick. Once past the beginner levels, foot work and movement is involved in the lessons and more (light) contact style fighting. Please note this is a contact sport, the classes regularly feature sparring (light contact fighting).
