About The Event
These selection criteria pertain to candidates wishing to train at an elite level for international competition and development towards the ITF England National Team. These selection criteria pertain to candidates vying for positions in the disciplines of patterns, sparring (mandatory), and optionally, special technique, power breaking, and team pattern. All candidates must attend the selection session on 19th November 2023, where they will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
- Mandatory Attendance: All candidates must attend the selection session on 19th November 2023.
- Grit and Determination: Candidates should demonstrate a high level of determination and commitment throughout the selection process.
- Technical Proficiency: Candidates must exhibit a strong foundation in technical skills relevant to patterns, sparring, special technique, power breaking, and team pattern.
- Competitive Spirit: Candidates must be willing and prepared to attend domestic competitions on a regular basis, demonstrating a desire to excel in their chosen disciplines. Students will be given access to 1-2 international competitions a year and will be required to attend at least one.
- Self-Motivation and Progress: Candidates should be proactive in their training and show consistent progress in their individual practice, even outside of regular training sessions.
- Fitness Level: Candidates should maintain a good level of fitness, ensuring they are physically capable of performing at their best in all aspects of Taekwon-Do.
- Adherence to Instructions: Candidates must diligently abide by coaches' instructions, showing respect for authority and the team structure.
- Meeting Deadlines: Candidates (and Parents of) are expected to meet all deadlines set by the coaching staff, including submission of required materials and attendance at team events.
- Consistent Training and Regular Grading: Once selected, candidates are required to maintain a consistent training schedule and participate in regular grading assessments to monitor progress and skill development. This demonstrates a commitment to continuous improvement and advancement within the sport.
- Squad Participation: Once selected, candidates will be required to attend organised squad sessions, events, and meetings as scheduled by the coaching staff.
- Training Plans and Worksheets: Candidates will be responsible for submitting training plans and worksheets as directed by the coaching staff, ensuring that progress and development are monitored effectively.
Note: The selection committee will assess each candidate based on the above criteria to determine the best candidates for the team.

Dedication to Training:
- Attend WMA classes regularly (minimum of twice a week for Taekwon-Do Students).
- Participate in WMA events.
- Compete consistently in WMA approved tournaments.
- Show a strong commitment to squad sessions (if selected) which will happen monthly.
Exemplary Conduct:
- Perseverance
- Display good sporting conduct.
- Be open and receptive to coaching.
- Exhibit dedication and put forth a high level of effort.
You will be required to sign and submit the athlete code of conduct upon selection.
