Welcome to the 6th Kup Blue Stripe Syllabus – a crucial milestone as you move closer to becoming an advanced Taekwon-Do student. This programme is designed for students who have successfully passed their 6th Kup (Green Belt) grading and are now preparing for promotion to 5th Kup (Blue Belt). At this level, your training will focus on improving speed, fluidity, and accuracy, while developing more advanced applications of your existing knowledge. You will now be learning the pattern Won-Hyo, which introduces more intricate stances and combinations, encouraging greater rhythm, balance, and technical control. You will also be expected to demonstrate all previous patterns with increased sharpness and precision. Your line work will continue to evolve, with a focus on fluid transitions and refined execution. Key techniques include Bending Ready Stance with Side Kick Combination, Walking Stance Straight Fingertip Thrust, Walking Stance Circular Block, and higher-level applications of the Side Kick. In sparring and self-defence, you will develop adaptability and reaction time through 2-Step Reactional Sparring #1, Free Sparring, and targeted Self-Defence responses. These exercises build decision-making skills and dynamic application under pressure. For the power test, you’ll demonstrate accuracy and timing with Side Kick and Elbow Strike breaks on a blue board. This is a key indicator of your power development and ability to control impact. You’ll also be tested on your 6th Kup Korean Theory, delivered verbally, including terminology, stances, and techniques relevant to this stage. With clear structure, instructor support, and focused practice, this syllabus prepares you for the responsibilities and technical standards expected at Blue Belt.
