Welcome to the 2nd Kup Red Belt Syllabus – the final colour belt stage before black stripe, where your Taekwon-Do must demonstrate consistency, control, and senior-level responsibility. This programme is for students progressing from 3rd Kup and preparing for promotion to 1st Kup (Black Stripe). At this level, techniques should be executed with clarity, purpose, and confidence, showing an integrated understanding of power, balance, and timing. You will study the pattern Hwa-Rang, supported by Saju-Tulgi, both requiring strong stance discipline, accurate movement, and controlled rhythm. All previous patterns must now be performed with sharp execution and clear intent. Line work focuses on refined fundamentals, including L-Stance Obverse Punch and High Section Turning Kick, alongside advanced kicking development through Jumping Front Snap Kick and Jumping Turning Kick, emphasising explosive power and stable recovery. Sparring and self-defence expectations increase further, with assessment in 1-Step Sparring, Free Sparring, 2:1 Sparring, and practical Self-Defence, where decision-making, distance control, and composure are essential. The power test includes Back Kick or Turning Kick and Palm Heel Strike on the junior black board, requiring precise mechanics and committed execution. You will also complete the 2nd Kup Korean Theory Test, verbally and in writing, demonstrating the knowledge and terminology expected of a senior colour belt. This syllabus marks your final preparation before black stripe, demanding maturity, consistency, and readiness for the transition to black belt training.
