Syllabus & Affiliation
We are licensed with
Boxercise to deliver their Boxercise and Kickboxercise programmes. Boxercise is an exercise concept based on the training methods used by boxers. Sessions typically involve hitting focus pads but no class involves hitting an opponent. It is a fun, challenging and safe workout which is great for stress busting, accessible to all ages and fitness levels.
The vast majority of the lessons centered around punching (and kicking) techniques delivered to martial arts equipment and opponents. These techniques include the simple punching such as Jab, Cross, Hook and Uppercut, simple kicking techniques such as side kick, front kick and turning kick. Once past the beginner levels, foot work and movement is involved in the lessons.
Fitness & Pad Work
Our lessons are designed to get you fit as quick as possible! Suitable for beginners, our energetic and intense workouts keep you on your toes and gasping for breath. A mix of cardio, strength and balance training works all your muscles. We use these fitness and endurance classes to prepare you for stepping up into one of our martial arts classes if that is what you wish to do!
We help you increase your fitness and technique by complimenting our syllabus with pad work combinations using strike shields, focus pads and Thai pads, we practice both sparring and traditional techniques to enable to student to bring out maximum power and speed in their movements, without the risk of hurting each other.
Our classes are delivered in a modern state of the art martial arts venue with access to top quality equipment.
Who Can Take Part?
Anyone from beginner to advanced practitioners can take part in our classes, the lessons conducted by a female Boxercise trained instructor, who has over 23 years experience in martial arts and holds numerous national and world martial arts medals.
Worcestershire Martial Arts only accepts students aged 14+ into our Boxercise & Kickboxecise classes.
Please note - we only operate mixed sex classes at this time, please inform us of any requirements you may have so that we can accomodate this when pairing you with a partner.
Is boxercise good for losing weight?
Boxercise is a fat-burning fitness class, the classes are designed to work the whole body and get the heart rate up, coupled with a healthy diet it is a good activity for losing weight.
Will I get hit?
No, Boxercise is a non-contact fitness class.
What do I need to participate?
Clothing wise, no flashy uniform needed, but you will need sports clothing such as a pair of leggings or shorts and a light, loose top. At some point you will need to invest in a pair of 10oz boxing gloves & handwraps but punchbags, strike pads and skipping ropes are supplied.
I am pregnant, can I take part?
Yes, however we will need to know in advance so that we can prepare specific exercises etc. to include you in the class.
